Campus Porter is a critical role in the Infrastructure Services Directorate. The Infrastructure Services Directorate offers a range of services including Estates Management and Development, Maintenance, Car Parking, Cleaning, Portering and Security services. The directorate is responsible for a range of over 71 University buildings both academic and residential totaling over 150,000 square meters over a 108-acre site. Portering sits within a multi-disciplinary team of security and Portering services reporting to a Senior Facilities and Security Services Technician, and managed overall by the Facilities and Security Services Manager.

The Infrastructure Services Directorate are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused individual who enjoys physically active work were no two days are the same. Duties include stock and furniture movement; carrying out basic maintenance; internal and external cleaning operations; sorting and delivering post; supporting the security team; ensuring buildings and property are secured, providing good customer care; car parking assistance; waste management, helping to ensure efficiency of service and ensuring health & safety guidelines are met.

Reporting to the Facilities and Security Services Senior Technician, the post holder will be responsible for undertaking Portering duties to agreed timescales and standards. Alongside daily tasks, staff across the University make requests for Portering and this requires the post holder to be organised and customer focused.  

The post holder must hold a full UK car driving license.

The working pattern is currently 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, throughout the year. Flexibility with regards to hours of work to support business needs is required and there may be an opportunity for additional hours.
