The positions are fixed term for the duration of the programme. The programme is currently seeking an extension and subject to this being approved these posts will be fixed term to the 31st July 2020.

The University has secured £6 million funding from the European Regional Development Fund to deliver a three year initiative to support innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the York, North Yorkshire, East Riding (YNYER) and the Humber region. The funding, in the form of Innovation Vouchers and Grants for R&D, will benefit SMEs across a range of industry sectors through research and innovation in products, processes and services and to develop new business opportunities. Funding will also be available to support low carbon projects.

We are now recruiting additional members of the team to help deliver this established programme. The existing team includes a Programme Manager, three Innovation Managers, two Finance and Audit Officers and an administrator. We are seeking to recruit two additional Innovation Managers and a Procurement Support Officer. These posts will be based with the current team at the University of Hull in the Research and Enterprise department, although the roles will cover the YNYER and Humber Local Economic Partnership (LEP) areas so travel will be essential.

The Innovation Managers will work directly with SMEs across the two LEP areas. This work will include: proactively engaging beneficiaries; leading a diagnostic process; supporting SMEs in action planning and project development to secure grant assistance; supporting SMEs to procure delivery agents; key account management as SME projects are implemented; and evaluating outcomes.

The Procurement Support Officer will work to closely with the beneficiary SMEs and the SparkFund Central Team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery and administration of the procurement related to awarded grants.
