The Wilberforce Institute at the University of Hull is a prize-winning research institute dedicated to the study of the history and legacies of slavery in all its forms, historical and contemporary. The Institute acts as a forum for debate and discussion and has strong links with policymakers, NGOs, businesses and charitable organisations.  It is also involved in a number of externally-funded international research projects. One of these is the EU-funded Horizon 2020 project European Colonial Heritage Modalities in Entangled Cities (ECHOES), which investigates how the memory and heritage of colonialism influences contemporary Europe and its relations with the outside world. ECHOES is a collaborative project led by the University of Hull, which includes researchers at Universities in six European universities in addition to partners based outside Europe. A core aim of ECHOES is to provide a firm base for reflective heritage diplomacy at EU level that takes Europe’s colonial past into account (http://projectechoes.eu).

We are now looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in science and heritage diplomacy to work on the ECHOES project. The post is tenable for two years.
