Hull York Medical School is looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the innovation, development and delivery of clinical and topographical human anatomy education within our undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MSc) and doctoral (MD, PhD) portfolio of programmes.

This is an exciting time to join Hull York Medical School. Following the Department of Health initiative to expand the number of medical school places in England, Hull York Medical School has been awarded an additional 90 places a year from 2020 which represents a 69% increase in places. For our School, this expansion of undergraduate medical places is a significant milestone in our history. Our expansion will ultimately allow us to produce more doctors who are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to challenges within healthcare and to transform patient care – within our region and beyond.

Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Anatomical and Human Sciences (CAHS), the role holder will enhance the CAHS teaching team and contribute to the strategic development of CAHS, actively contributing to the development, delivery and quality assurance of existing and new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at both the University of Hull and University of York campuses. The role holder will also a) take responsibility for aspects of delivery in the breadth of undergraduate and postgraduate clinical anatomy teaching, including CPD courses in clinical and applied anatomy delivered by CAHS, b) supervise research projects for undergraduate and postgraduate, and c) engage in the supervision of Doctoral (MD, PhD) students.

The successful candidate will have a strong topographical and applied human anatomy background with experience of both education and research, and a real passion for fostering and facilitating learning. Based primarily at the University of Hull, the successful candidate will, on appointment, benefit from strong active collegiate support within CAHS and the Health Professions Education Unit to develop their anatomy/education-related research and scholarship aspirations. The role holder will also have the opportunity to take advantage of our strong collaborative links with clinicians, academics and clinical academics at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the University of Hull School of Life Sciences, and the University of York Palaeohub. The role holder will also have opportunities to engage with, complement and extend the Centre’s current collaborative national and international research networks and build new research directions.
