Hull York Medical School seeks to appoint an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care, working within the Academy of Primary Care to support the development, delivery and leadership of its programme of innovative scholarship driving excellence in primary care – regionally, nationally and internationally.

The Academy delivers an established programme of primary care research and scholarship tackling key challenges facing today’s health service, including multimorbidity, polypharmacy, improving primary cancer care, addressing inequalities, workforce redesign, innovations in professional education practice.

The new Lecturer will contribute both to the expansion and delivery of existing areas of work, as well as establishing their own area of scholarship. 

You will work with research, education and clinical scholarship colleagues from within the Academy and the Institute of Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR), together with regional NHS and public partners and wider national and international networks to deliver innovative scholarship driving excellence in primary care research.

The post offers an exciting opportunity for an academic GP to both develop their own leadership and academic experience as well as contribute to making a difference in primary care.

Salary for this post will be at the clinical scale, depending on qualifications and experience.
The successful candidates will undertake 50% WTE academic work within the Academy of Primary Care and 50% WTE in clinical service. It is a condition of these posts that satisfactory enhanced disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this placement/programme has the required educational and Dean's approval.

This post is equally open to those who may, either from the outset or subsequently, wish to train part-time (flexible training), if eligible, or job share. For further information on flexible training please contact Health Education England, Yorkshire and Humber.

All candidates will need to hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise at the time of appointment, and be eligible to practice as a General Practitioner.

The contract will be with the University of Hull.
