We are looking to appoint an experienced clinician and educator to be the Academic Lead for Phase III (Final Year) of our flagship MB BS Programmes.  This is a part time role, 40% FTE, fixed term for 3 years.

This is an exciting time to join the School as it goes through the biggest expansion in its history. Hull York Medical School, founded in 2003, is the joint Medical School of the Universities of Hull and York and a partnership between the Universities and the NHS. The School has highly successful MB BS and MB BS with a Gateway Year Programmes and additionally has MSc in Physician Associate Studies, MSc in Health Professions Education and a portfolio of other post-graduate taught programmes. In recognition of its success the School was awarded a 70% increase in medical student numbers in 2017, with the expanded cohort of 220 starting in 2019. As a School we are proud of the contribution we make to training doctors and other healthcare professionals in the Yorkshire and Humber region and our support for students from all backgrounds, but especially those from backgrounds less represented in medicine.

The Academic Lead will be responsible for the overall delivery of Phase III, providing effective leadership of the Phase by maintaining an overview of curriculum design, development, delivery, assessment and evaluation. They will work with the MB BS Programme Director, MB BS Deputy Programme Director, other Phase Leads, Academic Theme Leads, assessment team, and teaching partners within Hull York Medical School, the Universities of Hull and York, NHS and external organisations to ensure that students have met the learning outcomes of the programme, the GMC requirements in Outcomes for Graduates and are prepared for the Medical Licensing Assessment and for professional practice in the Foundation Programme.
